Creating integrated optical modules with new bonding technologies


This research project is focused on developing a new bonding process to be used with various different materials. Existing joining technologies involve the use of polymers as an auxiliary joining material and thus restrict the thermal load capacity and power density in laser applications. 

The aim of the project is to develop new methods of bonding which are suitable for use with different materials and a wide range of components and which also allow high optical transmittance between curved surfaces at high temperatures. LIMO will lend its support to the Opti-Bond project by participating in the project's advisory committee alongside other notable companies from the photonics, laser and optics industries.
